New Season, New Tomato Crop

Last year's tomato crop produced "The Lonely Tomato". One plant and only one tomato produced. This year will be different. I put an Ace variety in the ground and fertilized it liberally.

I'll update as appropriate!

Fate Of The Lonely Tomato, Results Of Experiment

The Lonely Tomato was the only tomato to take form from two plants set in good soil, great sun and regular watering and feeding. the "farmer" has grown tomatoes for decades and always experienced a bumper crop. So the Lonely Tomato meets its fate today.

It's a well formed fruit, standing up nicely for the camera.

Ribeye steaks and a couple of sirloins being prepared for the guest of honor.

Finally Lonely Tomato sits up well ready to accompany the steak bite by bite.
(The BLT idea was abandoned)

The backyard home of The Lonely Tomato returns to peace as other plants blossom.

The term "Lonely Tomato" and this blog was designed to push an obscure term to the first page of the major search engines results pages.
To a certain extent it was a success. Google results for the term is scattered. They don't show this blog itself but referring links from Stumbleupon (my Stumble) and Bumpzee are on the first page of the main index.
Some guy in Japan linked this blog and Google indexed him.

Yahoo!, known for indexing blogs quickly added The Lonely Tomato Blog and places it in the #2 and #5 spots for the term.

Ask.com recognizes this blog with the #3 spot on the front page of results for "The Lonely Tomato."

MSN Search hasn't a clue.

The term shows well on blog search results for Google.

With very little effort I was able to appoint a fairly obscure search term to front page results on Ask, Yahoo! and Google. Our company, Sierra Web Marketing offers blog development and this experiment helps us refine which widgets or links help promote blogs quickest and best.
Google is a tough egg to figure. They clearly appreciate Stumbleupon and particular widgets. Many of our blogs use widgets as pathways into Google. I have concluded the quickest way to Google's heart is to load up the sidebar with widgets they approve of.
Some are on this blog some we keep for ourselves.

Thanks to everyone who read this effort, especially the gal in Brunei who seems to visit here every day. I may add more to this later. The tomato was good by the way!

Lonely Tomato; New Image

Between dusk and dawn the plant mate of Lonely Tomato disappeared. I suspect a crow absconded with it but I really don't know. OK so the sandwich will be smaller.

As a result of the apparent security breach Kitty has been reprimanded and once again briefed on the importance of her task.
